Hi, I'm Jay O'Brien.
Photography started as a way to document the places I visited, but before long it became the reason for the trip itself.
These days, you'll usually find me planning the next road trip, heading out before sunrise, or chasing the conditions that might lead to a great photograph. Sometimes everything comes together, and sometimes it doesn't, but that's all part of the adventure.
I have a passion for Australia's wildlife and wild places. Whether it's a foggy morning in the forest, a remote coastline, or an unexpected wildlife encounter, I'm always looking for opportunities to capture moments that showcase the beauty of the natural world.
Many of my favourite images have a story behind them. Some involve early alarms, long drives, and plenty of patience, while others happen completely by chance. One of the things I love most about photography is that no two days in the field are ever the same.
What I enjoy most isn't just the final image, it's the experience behind it. The places explored, the wildlife encountered, and the moments that make you stop and appreciate what's around you. Through my photography, I hope to share a small part of those experiences and create images that bring a sense of nature, adventure, and connection into people's homes.
When I'm not behind the camera, you'll usually find me planning the next hiking trail, wildlife destination, or road trip to explore.
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to view my work. I hope you enjoy the images as much as I enjoyed creating them.
